Is Puzzledorf like Sokoban?

Yes, Puzzledorf is heavily inspired by classic Sokoban games, but with some twists. In classic Sokoban, there is only one type of crate that you have to push on a target. In Puzzledorf, there are different coloured blocks that you have to push onto the correct coloured target. While it seems like a small change, it adds a lot of extra depth to the puzzles. How you navigate the different coloured blocks around each other is a key challenge.

How It Works

Puzzledorf puts a twist on Classic block-pushing puzzles like Sokoban by adding multiple block colours instead of just one. This creates interesting puzzles where you need to navigate the different coloured blocks past each other in tight spaces and onto the right targets. It’s quick to learn, with new ideas introduced as you go - including ice sliding and the mysterious Ruins puzzles.

Discover The Ruins

The Ruins mixes the block pushing of classic Sokoban with Match 3. In The Ruins, jewels slide until they hit another object. This means you need to think not only about where a jewel should go, but where it will stop and how each move affects the rest of the board. Use walls and other jewels to control where they stop, then match three jewels of the same colour to clear them from the puzzle.

This creates a unique type of challenge compared to classic Sokoban.

About the Developer

Hi, I’m Stuart - the solo creator behind Puzzledorf. I do everything myself: art, code, music - the lot! Over the years I’ve studied what makes puzzle games satisfying and fun, drawing inspiration from classics like Sokoban, Sokobond, and doing many of my own PuzzleScript experiments.

I also write coding tutorials on my blog, helping other creators make their own games. I'm starting to transition some of that knowledge to YouTube as well.

Puzzledorf is my love letter to great puzzle design; relaxing yet challenging, with those rewarding “Aha!” moments where the solution clicks. Inspirations range from retro Sega and Game Boy classics to the atmospheric worlds of Metroid Prime, giving Puzzledorf its unique mix of charm and mood.
